Thomas H. Gale House

1027 Chicago Avenue Built 1892

The Gale House has been modernized and has a new look for 2005. One of three houses on Chicago Avenue that have come to be called the "Bootleg Houses". They were designed in 1892 by Wright who was "moonlighting" while he was still working at the firm of Adler & Sullivan.

Wright's design for these houses was taken from the residence he had designed earlier in 1892 for Robert Emmond of LaGrange, Illinois. They were built by realtor Thomas Gale, who lived in this house. The picture below was taken in 2004.
