The Village of Hazel Crest is located 23 miles southwest of downtown Chicago in suburban Cook County. According to the 2000 census the population was 14,816.

Hazel Crest's municipal neighbors include Markham to the north, East Hazel Crest to the east , Homewood and Flossmoor to the south, and Country Club Hills to the west. Transportation links include the major east-west arterial streets 167th, 175th and 183rd. The major north-south arterials are Pulaski Road and Kedzie Avenue.

Interstate 80 runs thru the northern edge of the village and the I-294 tollroad makes its start at I-80. METRA commuter train service to Chicago is available at the Hazel Crest station.The O'Hare International Airport is approximately 40 miles from the village.
